3 Axle 40000L Asphalt Tanker for Hot Bitumen Road Transport

Product Overview

A thermal oil circulation asphalt tanker trailer is not a standard fuel tanker. It is a mobile thermos engineered to transport bitumen at 150–200°C without solidification. The thermal oil circulation system is the core differentiator. Instead of exposing bitumen directly to a burner flame (which causes local overheating and coking), a thermal oil system circulates hot oil through serpentine coils inside the tank, heating the bitumen evenly from within.

This 3-axle 40,000-liter unit is built for road construction contractors and asphalt suppliers who need bitumen delivered ready for immediate paving – no reheating required on site. Because the heating is indirect and uniform, the bitumen arrives without “hot spots” that degrade polymer-modified binders, and without cold zones that clog discharge valves.

Why Thermal Oil Circulation Matters for Bitumen Transport

Bitumen solidifies at room temperature and needs 150–200°C to stay pumpable. Thermal oil circulation solves 3 key issues direct-flame systems can’t:

  • Uniform Heating, No CokingThermal oil coils heat the tank evenly, avoiding hot spots that scorch bitumen and clog pumps/valves—no coking or asphalt damage.
  • Reliable Cold StartsRapid thermal oil heating prevents heavy pump/motor load from cold starts (a top cause of failures), eliminating this risk.
  • Energy Efficiency100mm rock wool insulation minimizes heat loss; diesel consumption ≤15L per 8-hour trip.

Built for Real Haulage Conditions

100mm high-density rock wool insulation (between inner tank & stainless steel cladding). ≤1°C/h temperature drop at 80km/h (20°C ambient), verified by 8-hour road test.

Multi-compartment tank (up to 5 insulated/heated compartments) for different bitumen grades/temperatures in one trip. Internal baffles reduce liquid surge, enhancing braking/cornering stability.

Certified safety systems: pressure/vacuum relief valves, overfill warning, anti-static grounding, emergency vents, EN 13314-compliant fill covers. 3″/4″ ball valves + dual 6m hoses for spill-free unloading.

3 unloading modes: gravity self-flow, pneumatic discharge, pump-assisted (including canning). Hot air flushing clears residual bitumen to prevent blockage/hardening.

Heat tracing for pump/valves: thermal oil circulation keeps unloading operational even in sub-zero climates, no external assistance needed.

Alternative heating options (base: thermal oil):

– Electric heating: low-noise overnight maintenance (stable power required)

– Dual heating: thermal oil + electric, 12–15% annual fuel savings

– LNG burner: 25% lower CO₂ emissions vs diesel

– 220V generator: powers heating when tractor engine is off

Application Scenarios for This Asphalt Tanker Trailer

  • Asphalt Mixing Plant Deliver hot bitumen from refineries to plants; pump unloading keeps temperature stable.
  • Highway & Road Construction Maintain 160–180°C for 10-hour transit, direct supply to paving equipment without reheating.
  • Large Infrastructure Projects Multi-compartment design transports different asphalt formulas for bridges, airports and ports in one trip.
  • African & Middle East Remote SitesRugged structure and quality axles adapt to unpaved roads, ideal for Africa and Middle East markets.
  • Roofing Material Production** Stable bitumen viscosity guaranteed for shingle and waterproof membrane manufacturing.
  • Industrial Pipe Coating Precise temperature control protects bitumen quality for anti-corrosion coating works.

Factory Direct Advantage

Lead time: 30–35 working days for a 3-axle 40,000-liter thermal oil asphalt tanker(compared to 45–60 days from established manufacturers)

Transparent fabrication: We send time-stamped photos every 3 days – tank shell rolling, insulation application, serpentine coil installation, final assembly, and paint.

Custom tank configuration: You specify the number of compartments(1–5), manhole locations, pump type, and burner orientation(left or right side for driver convenience).

One set of drawings per order: You approve the tank cross-section, compartment layout, and heating coil routing before steel is cut.

Test summary included: Each trailer undergoes a 4-hour heat retention test before loading onto the ship. The report shows starting temperature, ambient temperature during the test, and temperature after 4 hours with the burner off.
